Epsom and Ewell Health Walks (EEHW) is run by a group of volunteers and offers a programme of health walks throughout the Epsom and Ewell area on three days of the week: Mondays 1/2 hr walks, Wednesdays 1 hour walks and Sundays 1 hour walks. Currently there are also 1 hour walks in Horton Country Park one Tuesday a month starting from the Old Moat Garden Centre. All walks start at 10.00.
These walks are ideal if you are new to walking or recovering from illness and want to get fitter gradually without doing strenous gym exercises or keep fit classes. Walks are suitable for all levels of fitness, and ages.
Walks take place at 17 different locations throughout Epsom and Ewell and the surrounding area including Epsom Downs, Oxshott Heath and Horton Country Park. We use footpaths and open ground where possible.
The Monday 1/2 hr walks are suitable for you if recovering from illness or if you are not so fit.
The longer one hour walks, on Wednesdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, cover 2 to 3 miles at a reasonable pace with support from leaders and others. Its a great way to make friends and meet new people.
In due course you may consider becoming a trained walk leader offering support and encouragement to new walkers.
All our walks are mapped out, have been risk assessed and are led by trained walk leaders. They also have a back marker to ensure that no-one is left behind. Attendances are highest on Wednesdays and so a third person acts as middle marker then and, for the more popular locations, we provide a second walk leader so that the group can be split if it is large.
Open to all ages (although children must be accompanied by an adult), everyone welcome.
Walks are free and there is no need to book. Just turn up at the location shown in the latest walks programme below in time to start walking at 10am. When you come on your first walk, please arrive by 9.45 to complete a registration form. It would save time if you were to print this form, complete it and bring it along to your first walk - a copy is available here.
Walking shoes or boots are advisable but not essential.
